As described under Food Production, ALGACORE produces effects similar to oxidation ponds, but at a substantially faster rate, which in itself decreases both the size and the costs of the required facilities. Overall, ALGACORE provides secondary and tertiary biological wastewater treatment that exceeds EPA standards at costs below conventional systems, many of which do not meet recent EPA standards. When integrated with industries generating cleanable CO2 streams, infrastructural and operational outlays are greatly reduced by providing more than sufficient power to run the treatment facility. Furthermore, because ALGACORE uses the CO2 that is normally a gaseous, waste byproduct, this treatment system could accrue saleable CO2 credits due to the sequestration that is accomplished |
